LOUTH  GAA  SUPPORTERS  CLUB AGM 2008.
Louth  GAA  Supporters  Club  held  their  well  attended  AGM  in  the Clan na Gael  GFC   on  Wed. 5^th November.
After  sterling  service  over  the  years  Frank  McDermott  stood  down  as  Chairman  and  was  replaced  by  Jimmy  Myers.  
Frank  along  with Paddy McDonnell  joined  J.Mullen .  P.Hoey    &  P.Kenny   as  Honarary  Presidents.
Many   well  deserved  tributes  were  paid  to  Frank   for  his  work and  County  Secretary  P.Hamilton  on  behalf  of  
Louth  GAA  County  Board  thanked  him  for  his  dedication , loyalty , integrity   and  leadership  as   the Chairman of  the  
Louth  GAA  Supporters  Club  over  the  years ,  a  point  echoed  by  other  County   officials , incl.  J.Thornton, A.Halpin
&  P.McMahon . J.Richardson  pointed  out  that  working  with  Frank  on  any  Committee  was  enjoyable,  apart  from  getting  
the  Agenda  finished  early  his  humour  and  common  sense  approach  made  the  tasks  to  hand  enjoyable .
New  Chairman  Jimmy  Myers  noted  the  high  standard  he  must  follow   in  the  year  ahead  but  he had  no  doubt  that  Frank  
would  always  be  there  offering  Guidance  and  encouragement  and  he   had  a  steady  Officer base  and  Committee  to assist  him..
Secretary  J.Richardson  &  Treasurer  J.Richardson  presented  well documented   Secretary`s  &  Treasurers  Reports  to  the  Meeting ,
both  of  which  were  discussed  at   length.  It  was  felt  that  we  should  all  give  every  support  to  the  many  local  Sponsors  in  the  
year  ahead ,  as  they  have  always  given  generously  to  the  Louth  GAA  Supporters  Club.  
The  work  of  James McKeown  &  Brian  Matthews  as  Transport  Officers  was  acknowledged  in  the  discussions  and  both  men  
appreciated  the  cover  afforded  re.  Travel  arrangements  in  the local  Media .  The  Presentation  Function  ,  Summer  Draw   and  the  
Half  Time  Draw   were  the  main  Fundraisers  during  the  year  and  it  was felt  that  “Membership”  could  be  increased  during  2009.  
Treasurer  A.Halpin  outlined  proposals  re.  Funding  for  the  2009  season  in  conjunction  with  other  Louth  G.A.A  groups  .  
The   Clan  na  Gael  G.F.C  were  thanked  for  providing  Meeting  Room  facilities  during  the  year.  The  national  &   provincial  success  
of  the Louth  Senior  Hurlers  in  the  2008  season  was  acknowledged . F.McDermott  thanked   the Officers  /  Committee  for  their  full  
support  and  loyalty  over  the  years .  
He  acknowledged  the   hard  task  ahead  and  stated  that  that  he  would still  assist  the Committee. P.Hamilton  [  P.R.O ]  thanked 
the   local  Press / Radio  journalists   &  Photographers  for  their  extensive  coverage  during   2008 , and  noted  that  the 
Louth  GAA  Website  would  also  afford  coverage .
Chairman  J.Myers  hoped  for  a  successful  year   ahead  for  all  our County  Teams  and  looked  forward  to  continuing  the  good  work 
of  his  predecessor .  He  thanked  all  for attending  and   looked  forward  to  working  as  Chairman  with  the  new  Committee .
